Buffalo, NY \u2013\u00a0<\/span><\/b>Evergreen Health and\u00a0its\u00a0affiliate,\u00a0Community Access Services (CAS),\u00a0hosted a community meeting this week to share key updates on the new\u00a0comprehensive\u00a0healthcare center\u00a0opening this\u00a0summer\u00a0at 3070 Bailey Avenue.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The meeting\u00a0provided information about services that will be available to the community. Evergreen also\u00a0announced its partnership with\u00a0the Buffalo AKG Public Art Initiative\u00a0to\u00a0work with local artist Bree Gilliam for a\u00a0large-scale\u00a0mural\u00a0on the exterior of the\u00a0new location.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A figurative painter from Buffalo, the artist Bree Gilliam is the owner and founder\u00a0of\u00a0Paintphoria,\u00a0Buffalo\u2019s\u00a0first paint-throwing studio. In her work, she addresses the social issues that plague society. As a young Black woman, she believes that her responsibility is to depict the perspective of marginalized people, give a voice to the voiceless and empower her community.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI am incredibly honored to be a part of this project with Evergreen Health and the Buffalo AKG,\u201d said Gilliam. \u201cMy motto is \u2018art is power,\u2019 and this mural has the power to inspire hope, joy, and a sense of connection for our community.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The exterior of the healthcare center has been shaped by community feedback at a variety of neighborhood\u00a0events and ongoing engagement with local stakeholders,\u00a0advisors,\u00a0and staff,\u00a0and will feature new\u00a0CAS\u00a0branding\u00a0that\u00a0<\/span>celebrates and empowers the\u00a0community.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cFrom the beginning, this project has been shaped by the voices of the community. Hosting this meeting was an opportunity not only to share our progress, but to celebrate what makes this space unique, including an inspirational mural in partnership with the Buffalo AKG Public Art Initiative and artist Bree Gilliam,\u201d said Ray Ganoe, president and CEO of Evergreen Health. \u201cThis building is about more than healthcare, it\u2019s about creating a welcoming, inclusive space that reflects and serves the community.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re proud to partner\u00a0with the community\u00a0to ensure our shared values and goals are reflected in the new healthcare center\u00a0from\u00a0services that will be offered\u00a0to the\u00a0exterior mural,\u201d said Kim Brown, executive director of CAS.\u00a0\u201cCAS empowers Buffalo\u2019s communities of color through connections to culturally rooted healthcare,\u00a0resources,\u00a0and social\u00a0services, and\u00a0we\u2019re excited to launch this new brand to connect and communicate with the communities\u00a0we serve\u00a0more intentionally and effectively.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Evergreen Health and CAS are building the new\u00a0healthcare center\u00a0to ensure inclusive and judgment-free care is accessible to more people in the community, with a long-term goal of eradicating health inequity through unconditional care.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The comprehensive healthcare center will feature services from both Evergreen Health and CAS, including but not limited to primary care, pharmacy services, behavioral health services, testing and education, community mobilization, gynecological services, care coordination, financial counseling, a food distribution center, multiuse meeting rooms for community groups,\u00a0and more.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
